This week we are to prepare our DPS report due on the 20th.
Wednesday 13th – Heartbreak
Today I once again helped animate a crumble for heartbreak.
Friday 15th – Heartbreak
After recieving feedback from Phyu I edited my draft. I was to make it so that the top pieces don’t crumble.
Saturday 16th – Heartbreak
Phyu instructed me to remove the small debris and to shorten it to 3 seconds. They loved it. However the problem was rendering it as a png sequence. Each time I’d try to render some problem would happen. Currently it is Sunday 17th 01:26 as of writing this and I have just spent nearly 6 hours trying to fix the problem. The problem was blender cache. I hate blender sometimes.
We showed off our first concept frames to Nicola where we were told to aim for at least 5 different eras. We were also told we could use different celebrities from each era to represent it. Afterwards we decided on 4 eras as 5 would be too fast paced and went searching for different images to use in the collage animation. We decided to search for eras of coca cola that stood out with weird or iconic packaging. After getting all the images Miguel turned some of them into cutouts while I animated them in after effects. However I did need to create more cut outs in photoshop.
The eras we chose we the victorian era, 1940’s, 1990’s and 2020’s with Will Smith representing the 90’s and streamer Ishowspeed representing the 2020’s, with that specific era trying to also reference coke’s share the love campaign.
Test 1
Tuesday 5th – Producer’s meeting
Our team producer Yujia had a meeting with the film students and she shared the feedback on our peice:
Replace celebrities that are controversial or just don’t have any relevance with CocaCola. (Suggestion: pick public domain pictures of random people as preference)
pick public domain backgrounds as well
No need to do the animation too rush, just make the concept design and the animatic sequence, to showcase the visual first.
PowerPoint slide 2, 5 no need to change, slide 4 change to public domain/commercial copyright free people.
Meeting call with Nicola tomorrow before seeing the clients
I changed the 90’s section to try and reflect Coca Cola’s advertising in that era, using their iconic polar bear and the 2020’s section now entirely focuses and leans heavily towards referencing the share the love ad campaign and what it sets out to do.
Test 2
Wednesday 6th – More feedback
We were told that the animation isn’t really necessary at the moment but to also lift the “muesum of brands” logo up a smidge, along with just adding the style frames and a beat board to the presentation. Miguel has offered to make the beat board so I sent him some of the still frames. Tomorrow, Yujia has a producer meeting around 10am and we plan on helping her from discord.

Just after writing this Yujia has sent over the 90’s background collage to which I downloaded and added to the video, replacing the placeholder 90’s background.
Today we all had a meeting with Nicola and showed off our first drafts. We have a one to one team meeting with her on friday.
My Test 1My Test 2
Tuesday 28th – One teammate down
Our Teammate Daisy had to drop out of the project, leaving us four. We are scheduling a meeting for tomorrow
Wednesday 29th – Team meeting
On discord we held a team meeting around 4pm where we discussed our plan, created concepts and created a canva moodboard. I created an initial motion idea before we all settled on an idea of having a Victorian coke bottle evolve to how it is nowadays, with the background changing to reflect each era. By the end of the meeting we have mostly prepared our presentation for friday.
My initial idea. Having the logo start off small, transition onto a 90’s style with the big blue background before transitioning to a “modern” minimalist style to reflect how brands have changed from style to a lack of style.Group storyboard for our introMy background mock up
Friday 1st – Meeting and heartbreak
Nicola’s meeting
We had a meeting with Nicola.
Notes
can use any products (coca cola)
Test are nice
Low frame rate again
Background good
3-5 seconds
Title on screen for 3 seconds
The museum of brand title included
Not faded (animate the title?)
Use the font (allowed to font change)
Footage for the photo
But can use images as place holder
Have other collage images come in
7 slides
Slide 1 – brand evolution
5 design images (Victorian background)
First frame
Final frame (title + logo and whatever)
Then you have A-B-C (timeline)
Beat sheet (YouTube link)
Getting the timeline done -slide 6
Credits -slide 7
How do you bring person drinking to the background?
Today we were given our brief for this project, animating the credits and title cards for the film students that were filming our workshops in the museum of brands. It was a little anti-climatic in my eyes as the brief for this project isn’t for the museum itself, rather for a documentary about the museum by the film students but nonetheless, we were to be split into teams of 4, pick one of the 4 workshops we did and animate a title card for it.
I chose to be in “Brand evolution,” with my teammates being Yujia, Daisy, Emmanuel and Miguel, with Yuji being the team director and I stepping up to be the team’s compositor. We set up a discord and began converging and exchanging notes while also sharing inspiration and tasking ourselves to make some mock-ups and organising a team meeting on Friday at 4pm.
On Monday 27th we are to present a small presentation containing our concept frames.
Notes I made
Animated credits for film Typography animation Consistent font Can be any animation style, 3D, 2D, After effects, ect 3-5 seconds. NO MORE THAN 3 TO 5 SECONDS Title sitting on the screen for 3 seconds Animation itself can start before or after the title appears or simultaneously.
IDEA FOR ANIMATION sort of collage animation – look at Nicola Francis’ Instagram page. Can add other footage related to the workshops. Take footage from the footage – this is heavily recommended Text being collage is not a necessity it can be any style At least 2 concept frames per film 1920 x 1080p Use Google slides
Brand evolution Could have the logos flipping through their different versions like the marvel intros
THE LOGOS COULD ALL SWING AND MERGE INTO THE CURRENT MODERN VERSION LIKE THE ZENITH IN TERRARIA
Friday 24th – First team meeting and heartbreak work
Museum documentary meeting
Today we had a team meeting where we shared our rough ideas. We decided on including them all in the presentation, receive feedback and have the teachers decide on how we could merge them, just like how they guided us for the Blink Logo project.
My rough draft.
Heartbreak
Today I helped Phyu with animating a set piece for their final major project, Heartbreak. I shared my screen and they guided me on how they want their crumbling scene to be animated.
This was the first week back after a long spring break which began after the blink industries project. Today we visited the museum of brands, a museum founded by Robert Opie meant to archive products and items to show how they have evolved and changed over the decades. Today’s workshops were about “Brand evolution” and “customer profiling.” In the Brand evolution workshop we discussed why a brand would change and redesign it’s logos and packaging, going down to one of the exhibits and my group seeing the evolution of the Tate and Lyle sugar brand starting off simple and a little whimsical before evolving and slowly changing to fit each time period. Our task for this workshop was to redesign a brand’s logo for what it could look like in 100 or so years.
The second workshop was on customer profiling where we were given an item and had to observe what it was, who it is likely made for and to create a customer that would buy this item.
Wednesday 15th – Museum of brands day 2
Today’s workshops were on “Gender in advertising” and “Sustainability in packaging.”
The first workshop was on customer profiling where we observed how companies advertise to a specific market and demographic, such as for young women it would be flowery and soothing while for men it would be all grey and somewhat intimidating. We then went into depth on certain ads such as a women’s hair shampoo ad and seeing how they portray their models, specific clothing, hair style and figured out these products are meant to say to you “buy our shampoo and your hair will look like this” when in reality, it won’t actually give those results, it is just a means of trying to convince you to buy the product.
While for men it’s about how shaving your chest hair can give you an advantage on the sports field which seems to be both extremely specific, targeting sporty men, and a little wrong as shaving chest hair has nothing to do with your performance. But from this workshop we learnt how companies will advertise to a specific gender.
The second workshop was sustainability in packaging where we identified packaging, how it can be recycled or disposed of and whether they are fully environmentally friendly. We were tasked with picking an item and see how we could make more environmentally friendly and easier to recycle. The box Anika and I picked was made of card, laminated presumably with plastic, uses a magnet as a latch and printed with Gold ink on certain parts. We discussed on how the instead of plastic lamination it could be a varnish which is made out of natural oils, remove the gold ink in favour of just regular print ink and have the latch be a paper latch.
Today we all went to blink industries where we all watched each other’s logo loops and we received feedback on our logos from Nicola. Here are the notes I took for what we need to improve our logo.
Line consistency
Add more animals
Remove shadow of the logo
Blur the background
This Tuesday 31st is when the final due date is
Send our social media handles to miss Miriam via email
Side note:
After ending at 11:30, Mahtab invited me to tag along with Trisha, Jocasta, Leila, Kamila and Amy who were going to Westfield. We went around Tottenham, going to Japan centre where they did a miffy stamp rally. We ate Takoyaki and I got to nerd out about new tomodachi life game and mario galaxy movie after screaming seeing the fox McCloud poster for said movie.
Afterwards we went to a gachapon shop where I got two sanrio toys before then heading to skin Cupid where Nomana worked along with parting ways with Kamila.
Afterwards we finally headed to Westfield shepherd’s Bush. There we headed to the Japan centre there and they got their stamp while I got a strawberry and cream sandwich. We first headed to the Lego shop where we played and created Lego figures before heading to popmart where we browsed and purchased some figures. Here I learned that Jocasta was from Malaysia too. Then heading to Uniqlo to buy some clothes and afterwards we headed to HMV, browsing the toys and merchandise there, buying Kirby figures before Jocasta had to go home. We began heading to KENJI, separating from Amy and Leila and browsing even more stuff before heading to Miniso and browsing further toys and finally but briefly reuniting with Amy and Leila before they had to go home. Finally, Mahtab, Trisha and I ate ice cream and talking together about art, the final year, the downfall of sora ai and milo chocolate.
After this we walked to the train station before heading our separate ways, with me having to attend my grandmother’s 83rd birthday.
Today felt like a reward, and I feel so grateful for having the opportunity to spend time with and create new friends with amazing and kind people. I feel so happy.
Saturday 28th – final edits, hopefully
Today, Mahtab and I started the final edits and polishing of our blink logo. Mahtab added a shrimp to the logo to which I animated in after effects
Our final meeting with Joshua. We were told to make the bird slightly bigger and to reduce the bobbing of the Blink floaters. Along with that to change the position of the person sculpting the S. Along with this, no presentation at all needs to be done, just get the logo done and export in a QuickTime, Image sequence and possibly GIF format to a OneDrive that is supposed to go live soon.
Demo 7 – Less bobbing
Wednesday 18th – More work I guess?
13:36 – The team plans to meet up at 7pm on discord for one more meeting before the submission of friday. Yeyint has sent me the redrawn person sculpting along with a new jellyfish.
Demo 8 – New sculptor and jellyfish
21:36 – I animated the person sculpting and the sausage
Today we had a meeting with miss Miriam around 14:36 where we showed her the almost finished logo. She gave us a list of minor edits to do.
I Immediately began to try and slow down my waves while also trying to make sure it fits in the 3 second timeframe while also looping. It was harder than it sounds mainly due to the math involved and reshuffling of keyframes but I managed to slow down animation down to a third of what it once was and composite that specific part by 17:56 just before dinner. Any slower is not possible unfortunately otherwise the loop will look off.
Around 19:00 I joined the empty discord voice call to wait for the others and began to edit Yeyint’s tree by animating the leaves via adding more pins to hide leaves and also animate a coconut falling from the tree.
At 20:02 Yeyint sent me a version of his palm tree without the coconut to which I then used to replace the existing one in after effects which thankfully was compatible with the pin rig. Finally, Mahtab joined the call however Yeyint had guests over and couldn’t join.
Around 20:29 I had made the final touches and finished the logo and for the rest of the call Mahtab and I discussed the crab idea, unsure whether to go through with it since nippets didn’t seem to have a crab sprite in the game, before watching the Mario galaxy movie trailer around 9pm and doing and showing some personal and Brick lane project work, then finally logging off around 11pm.
Demo 4.0 – Maliha’s edits
Saturday 14th – I’m an insomni-maniac
It is currently 3:16am and I made some adjustments to the logo, mainly the coconut tree’s falling coconut.
Logo 5.0 – Insomniac edit
3:26 – have just realised theres a minor glitch with the coconut and I am fixing it now.
3:51 – I’m so close to screaming, after effects’s viewport is not accurate to the final render where it shows a ton of bugs.
Demo 5.5 – I wanna sleep
Sunday 15th – Sculpting S
Yeyint added a person sculpting the S so I added it.
No more big presentations Just final delivery and polish Maybe a small amount of time for presentation One slide introduction Second slide logo When you’re called upon, start. Even if not everyone is here. Our slides were the most stylised Change the inflatables to purple or blue
SUBTLE LINE BOIL. 3 SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT LINES PER SECOND. Or shot on twos
Using all these notes, along with the template and guidelines we set up in the canva page, we all began to refine our seperate sections of the logo.
Tuesday 3rd – Halfway there
Mahtab sent their finished letters and bouncing ball to which I them composed with my logo. This bled into the next day due to me finishing it around midnight of 04/03/26.
Mahtab’s PiecesLogo Demo 0.5Timelapse of editing Mahtab and I’s logo pieces
Wednesday 4th – Yeyint and Emmanuel
Yeyint and Emmanuel sent me their pieces to add to the final logo, with Emmanuel sending me his around midnight of Thursday 5th, leaving me time to rig and animate Yeyint’s palm tree before then.
Yeyint’s STIRigging the I treeTimelapse of animating Yeyint’s palmtreeEmmanuel’s Guitar DDemo 1 – Minor scuff on the Blink part which can be fixed
I had missed most of the meeting due to internet connections but we were told to put the animated logos that had the backgrounds into a mock up Instagram post to properly show how it would look as a proper post. For my logos specifically, I was told to turn the black of the “corporate” logo to brown as to not clash with the 6A000 outline and add a plastic sheen to the “BLINK” letters to make them look more like plastic floaters.
Later that day during our 7pm meeting, I did re-did everyone’s “post” but each of them were in the various Instagram formats and resolution instead of the simple 16:9 format.

Wednesday 25th – final meeting before the pitch tomorrow
As of writitng this, we have tidied up our presentation, finished our drafts and completed the remaining social media mock up posts. Yeyint however will not be able to attend due to work but all in all,I hope everything will go smoothly at 10:30 tomorrow.

Thursday 26th – The Blink pitch presentation
We presented our logos to Nicola and he stated that what he liked about each logo, while also saying how each of them were lacking something and how we could combine the main elements of all 4 into one. Parts he liked were my waves, Mahtab’s bouncy ball, Emmanuel’s stylised guitar “D” and Yeyint’s dotted “S”.
Friday 27th – Missed meeting.
There was a 7pm team meeting on discord I couldn’t attend due to being out at an Ifar event that time and it was rescheduled to Saturday 28th.I met a lady named Saima who had originally wanted to do animation but didn’t pursue it initially because of outside influences putting her down and went to work in the business side of studios like sony. However she plans on doing it this year at Ual LCC, the same campus attend, to do 2D animation. I showed her my work and portfolio and she told me to not be like her and give up on what I love to do, no matter what others say and to keep improving even. We exchanged phone numbers and Instagram and I honestly wish her luck.
On a more personal note, I was feeling a little burnt out from all the work recently, but after that small meeting I feel reinvigorated and motivated again. I don’t know how to describe it but after hearing her story, It makes me want to keep on going with the current momentum I have and to improve even more.
Saturday 28th – Heartbreak and Blink meeting
Heartbreak – Background making
At 12am, after coming home from that Iftar I immediately got to work on helping with Phyu’s background request, feeling motivated by Saima’s encouragement and story. The timelapse footage below speaks for itself.
Blink logo team meeting
I had a discord meeting with Mahtab where we they caught me up to speed and asked for my input. I added my notes from what I gathered from Nicola’s feedback and we began to discuss how we could divide the work between all four of us. Yeyint and Emmanuel weren’t able to stay for long so we have planned another meeting for Sunday 1st.
However I created a sort of template for everyone to use, including line size and canvas resolution so that we all have a somewhat consistent logo, and Mahtab created a canva note and mindmap board for us that houses all the feedback and ideas along with adding new ideas and potential solutions.
